We are so grateful you are considering traveling to Italy to celebrate our wedding! We understand that coordinating travel plans can be challenging. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions our website may not cover.
While we would love for every one of you to attend our wedding, we know it is a lot to ask, so we understand not everyone will be able to make it. We hope we can celebrate with you in another way if you cannot attend.
Please note that you will need an ACTIVE passport to travel to Italy.
Passports that expire within 6 months of a trip can be rejected at a border crossing so we strongly urge you to ensure your passports are up to date and to renew if needed before March 2025.
Here is the link to renewing your United States Passport.
Whatsapp is the easiest/most common messaging app in Italy.
We recommend checking your phone to see if it has a physical sim card, or a digital sim.
If you have a physical sim card, you can get an Italian data/phone plan from companies Vodafone or TIM in FCO airport. Not necessary, but helpful to have cell service if you end up in an area without wifi (though all hotels will have wifi).
If you have a digital sim, please consult with your American phone plan provider for best course of action.
Many of our friends have also used Google Fi during international travel, find more info about this here: fi.google.com/about/international-rates
Currency: Italy uses the Euro (€).
Cash Recommendations: It’s advisable to bring some cash for small purchases in bars and coffee shops, as credit cards may not always be accepted.
Currency Exchange: Avoid exchanging money in Italian stores or airports due to higher rates. It’s better to exchange in advance in the U.S.
Credit Cards: Check with your credit card company about foreign transaction fees. Many cards, like AMEX Platinum, Chase Sapphire Reserve, and Bank of America Travel Rewards, do not charge these fees and offer better exchange rates.
Payment Options: Some merchants may not accept AMEX, so bring an alternative card. Apple Pay and Android Pay are widely accepted at most point-of-sale systems.
We are so excited that you will be in this special place with us.
We've put together a google map of saved places that we can recommend to you. Some are close to the wedding events/hotels, and others in surrounding areas should you choose to rent a car.
(We highly recommend renting a car and extending your vacation if possible because the food is heavenly, and the sights are stunning!)
Tipping is never mandatory, that being said, it is seen as a spontaneous gesture of appreciation for a great service offered by guides, bell-hops, drivers and waiters; a good amount for a half-day tour could be €20-25; for a full day drive/guide €20 to €50; for short transfers/services €5-10 is fine.
If you choose to visit higher-end restaurants during your trip beyond our wedding, a 10% tip on the total bill is considered a good amount.
It is always up to you how much you want to tip; In regular restaurants it is perfectly acceptable to round the bill at the end of your meal.
If you have a coffee or a quick bite to eat at a café there's no need to tip.
Tips must always be made with cash, as it is not possible with cards in most places.
